Halftime: Focus on Breakthroughs

Breakthroughs come when we apply just the right amount of profound knowledge to achieve a successful solution taking our performance to the next level. These breakthroughs come in various areas of our life ranging from motivation, to productivity and most importantly to our mental health and physical wellness just to name a few.

Today's Insight comes in the area of Achieving Breakthroughs.

It's all about YOU!

Quit Comparing Yourself to Others & Get on with Your Life.

Life as a football coach is all about breaking barriers and getting to the other side. I've learned to move outside my comfort zone, and that’s where all growth occurs. If you can press through, it can make all the difference in achieving your goals and accomplishing your best year ever.

It’s important for 4 reasons

You need to move outside your comfort zone to experience happiness. Happiness is the process, not the destination. Happily achieve. It has to be challenging and meaningful… getting out of your comfort zone guarantees that.

You need to move outside your comfort zone to grow as a person. The coaches that grow the most are those that consistently put themselves in those situations and get kind of comfortable with it.

Move outside your comfort zone to conquer fear. Fear is what holds us back… fear of embarrassment that we can’t do it or we don’t have what it takes.

Move outside your comfort zone to inspire others. I know it’s important to you or you wouldn't be a football coach. The only way to lead others in a compelling way, in a way that makes them want to change is to move outside of your comfort zone yourself.

4th Quarter: Football Clinic with Bill Walsh

Years ago when I started American Football Quarterly I was fortunate to hire Coach Walsh as our Senior Editor and Advisor... what a wonderful experience to work along side him. He spoke at one of our clinics called AFQ University and I wanted to share another time where he spoke in public to coaches. Notice the overhead projector.

After numerous requests I am publishing some inside information on this offense.

Here's the next section on the evolution toward the Triple Shoot Offense.

In this episode I take you to the time when I left Emporia State to run the offense at the University of Wyoming.

Imagining entering Laramie, Wyoming to a situation where they had the worst offense in the Mountain West Conference and quickly transitioning a unit that was chockful of Tight ends & Fullbacks to the Triple Shoot offense. Well, here's the story...
